New Adventures in Web Design - The Highlights

What a fantastic day at the New Adventures conference last week: fun crowd, great diggs and first-class speakers who made our brains teem with ideas.

The Front team plus 600+ web designers joined Simon Collison in the Albert Hall for his first industry conference. One of the world’s great web designers, Simon curated a one-day schedule that would challenge even the most seasoned organiser: 10 talks and two live Q&A panel debates in eight hours.

We loved the conference concept, and were delighted to help out with sponsorship.

Despite the pace, most of the day’s content was meaty enough to feel satisfying. Speakers included web heroes Dan Rubin, Mark Boulton, John Tan, Greg Wood and Andy Clark, who touched on many themes sure to become the darlings we all devote some attention to in 2011:

  • industry maturity
  • storytelling
  • visual design for content
  • responsibility.

There was much to reflect on, and we’ll be following up with some of our own thoughts on these in the weeks ahead.

In the meantime, I recommend you download or buy a copy of the special addition paper produced for the conference, and have a look at some of our favourite images from friends of Front…
