Guess the Budget

We’re going to try a little bit of a social media experiment! We’d like you good people to try to predict the revised Irish budget, which is going to be held on the 7th of April.

This is pretty simple. As you know, the Irish government is drawing up a revised budget to cope with, let’s face it, some pretty empty coffers. We’d like to see if the good citizens of Twitter can predict what measures the Irish government will take in this revised budget. What will they do with taxation, spending, borrowing?

We’d like you to tweet your predictions @guessthebudget on Twitter. Make your prediction specific, and attach a number to each one (a Euro amount, a percentage change). For example “taxes will go up” isn’t specific enough. “People earning €100,000 per annum or more will pay a new income tax rate of X%” is.

We’ll give a £100 amazon.co.uk voucher to the person who correctly predicts 3 specific items of the budget (revised down from 5 because we felt it was way too hard). Where more than one person gets 3, we’ll draw names out of a hat. We’re assuming that the budget will be leaked extensively before it’s announced, so we’re only going to keep the competition open until 12pm (noon) on the 20th of March. The winner will be announced on Twitter and at the bottom of this article within 3 days of the competition closing. Oh, and none of you Front people can enter :)

There were *no* entries that met the entry criteria by the deadline. Apparently, we’re not so crowd-smart after all. Oh well :) Next time folks.
