I’ll be speaking at the Digital Hub in Dublin this Saturday about competitive advantage and the web and wanted to share some of my ideas for the talk.
Bizcamp Dublin is a user generated business conference, aimed at helping businesses share skills, experiences and lessons learned with others. I’m really looking forward to it and some of the other speakers include Niall Harbison on entrepreneurial marketing, Joy Redmond on human capital and Aiden Kenny on service models.

I wanted to talk because it’s an opportunity to think about the relevance of what we do to companies today. Given the increasing pressure on companies to improve performance, does investing in their customers’ experiences online really matter?
I think it does. More and more of the projects we work on are based on the premise that the old ways of communicating are less and less effective: “make and sell” won’t work with customers who want to actively engage with you. At the same time, figuring out the best way to use the web is a mixed bag of challenges and opportunities.
I’m on at 10.45 in the Learning Room (based on the draft schedule) and am sharing the session with Andrew Tobin. I’ve also added my talk to SpeakerRate - http://speakerrate.com/events/49-bizcamp-dublin - a new service for capturing feedback. The idea of being rated isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but its something I would value personally :)
Will be posting the slides up here afterwards, and let me know if you’re planning to go!
