I am excited to be going to the Future of Web Design conference in sunny London, England along with Gareth Dickey to absorb all the information my sponge-like brain can manage, then rinse out my knowledge upon the team when we return.
The Future of Web Design (FOWD) is an event for people involved with web design and development looking to learn from their peers. It attracts hundreds of enthusiasts from far and wide (have a look on Dopplr and see for yourself) who are interested in the talks and workshops on offer.
This year’s event features high profile speakers from the likes of Meagan Fisher (@meaganfisher) from simplebits.com and Mark Boulton (@markboulton) from markboulton.com, ready to discuss topics ranging from the evolution of typography on the web to designing effective mobile websites.

This event isn’t a session on how to design or what the next trend in web design is likely to be. It is an opportunity for like-minded people in the same field of work to share their views and expertise and for us to challenge each other and better ourselves at what we do for a living.
I will also be looking forward to meeting people I am following on Twitter to listen to what projects they are working on, as well as listen to their thoughts and views.
Attending events such as FOWD 2009 means that I can apply the knowledge I gain to my daily work. With a head full of ideas from the world’s top designers and developers, the work I produce for FRONT can only get better!
It’s my first time attending an event like this, I can see why there is such a buzz and so much hype over a two day event for a couple of hundred people. It’s an opportunity to learn from each other. I want to come back from the event feeling like I have contributed to the sharing of knowledge in both talking and listening to others. Isn’t that the true spirit of Web 2.0?
I will be tweeting live from the event (from @jordanmoore) as the day progresses with the most interesting items from FOWD. See what others are saying using Twitter’s search.
Have fun! Disappointed I couldn’t be attending FOWD but hopefully there will be plenty of videos posted!
