In 2009 I’ve been lucky enough to attend design-centred conferences such as Future of Web Design London, and the FOWD Tour in Belfast; now the time has come to satisfy my developer urges for two days at the first Expression Engine and Code Igniter conference in Leiden, Netherlands. I’ll be reporting back throughout the conference, but here’s a summary of what I’m looking forward to.
ExpressionEngine is a fantastic Content Management System that we use many of our projects here at FRONT. Having been through the spectrum of off the shelf content management systems (and having been mostly disappointed/frustrated) we’ve found ExpressionEngine to be a robust, functionally rich CMS that makes simple things simple and more difficult things eminently possible. It’s a system that lets us focus on doing what’s unique to each project.
The first ExpressionEngine/CodeIgniter Conference in Leiden, Netherlands is a must-attend event for us. I’ve been asked to travel to EECI2009 to learn from the experts, relay this information to the team so that we can all keep our skills razor sharp and so we can continue to offer great work to our clients.
During the two days, the attendees will be treated to 12 talks on advanced development topics and 9 hands-on workshops. With the imminent launch of ExpressionEngine 2.0, Veerle Pieters’ talk on Designing and Using the new EE 2.0 interface is high on my list of priorities - and is something I’ll definitely be enlightening the team about.
I have also put my name down for a workshop by Paul Burdick, Lead Developer for Solspace who will be treating us to a hands on session on developing add-ons and extensions to ExpressionEngine; a vital skillset we use every day, and can always improve upon.
They’re just two of the highlights of a jammed programme of events over the two days - I can’t wait!
As you can tell, I’m a bit hyped about going, I will be tweeting live from the event from my Twitter account @jordanmoore during the two days at EECI 2009. Feel free to keep in touch while I’m in the Netherlands, ask questions about the event, chat about the workshops, or even just to say hello.
Go easy on the Space Cake.
