This is where we come to think
So we’ve arrived in San Francisco for the Web 2.0 expo. Paul May and I are both here this year to hear some of the world’s leading thinkers and practitioners talk about how the web is evolving into a more useful, social platform.
Web 2.0 Expo is a conference that draws literally thousands of people who are really passionate about the web and making it better. Its made up of workshops, talks and some really great keynote speakers.

Paul May was here in 2008 and you can still read some of his posts on Adobe Flex / Experience Strategy, ubiquitous computing / writing for the web, customer service on the web / managing creative environments and a wrap-up of some of the best keynotes in the archive.
We’re back again this year to keep in touch with what’s happening right now on the web. What’s good practice changes so quickly that its absolutely crucial to keep in touch.
Going to events like web 2.0 also means that when we deliver consulting work on deliver web projects for our clients, that we’re not just bringing our expertise and best experiences, but we’re also drawing on the best, emergent thinking from around the world.
Paul has posted about some of the talks that he’ll be seeing and you can see his schedule. I’ll be attending events around social media, user experience design and agile development: you can see my schedule too.
We’ll be sharing what we learn as the event goes on, and will put up short posts on the most interesting sessions as the week goes on. You can hear from us via @designbyfront on twitter, and Paul and I will both be tweeting at @paulmmay and @paulmckeever.
You can also see what others are saying about the event using twitter search (there’s a lot of tweeting going on).

We’ve been taking some pictures and you’ll find these on our designbyfront Flickr account and people are slowly starting to add their pictures to Flickr. You’ll find a lot of the talks on Slideshare too (it might take a couple of days for stuff to be uploaded though).
First of all, thanks to Mike Butcher at Techcrunch for hosting a great meetup for all the UK and Irish companies who’re out here.

There are about 20 companies over on the UK Web Mission, including FreshNetworks who spoke at our Conversations event in London last week (there’s an update from that on the way too), and Replify (who have an office just round the corner from us in Belfast).
We’ve also met some great people over here — too many to name everyone — including Y-Combinator’s Echodio and reservations platform Booking Bug.
Feel free to keep in touch while we’re here. If there’s any sessions you’re particularly interested in, have questions about any of the talks or want to know what’s happening, drop either me or Paul a note via twitter. Or leave us a comment to tell us what you think below!
Looks like no comments have been added yet, why not be the first?
